THE UNI-KNOT
For tying on hooks, flies or lures etc.
This knot is very easy to tie and is an alternative to the Tucked Half Blood Knot (Improved Clinch). The Uni Knot is the better option for low diameter line as the tucked half blood knot can cut into itself - the Uni Knot does not have this problem.
Many anglers using "double strength" lines have great problems with knots. Again, the Uni Knot is the one to use.
Tying:
1. Pass about 6" of the line through the hook eye, plug, swivel etc and double back up the main line. Take the end of the line back towards the hook to just ahead of the eye so that a circle is formed.

2. With the end of the line make about 5 turns around the double line and gently tighten. Do not forget to dampen the knot as it forms, in order to prevent the friction burning the line and thereby weakening it.

3. A sliding knot will have formed, just slide this down to the eye and pull the knot tight and trim.

4. This knot is excellent for use with plugs where you do not want the knot hard on the eye. Simply do not snug the knot to the eye and this will allow the plug plenty of movement. When a fish grabs the lure the knot will snug up against the eye..
