ULVERSTON CANAL

Tickets:
Obtained on bank. Directions: Off the A590 Crooklands to
Barrow-in-Furness road on outskirts of Ulverston when entering the
town from M6 direction. Turn down by the side of the Canal Tavern.
The track runs beside the canal for its length of 1 mile until the
Bay Horse Inn at the bottom end. Species include Pike, Tench,
Roach, Carp, Bream, Chub, Perch and Rudd. The water is open all
year and tickets are available on the bank.
Average width is
about 18 metres and this is a deep canal with depths averaging 8'.
The canal is pegged out for convenience as it is often used for
matches. Maggots, casters, bread, worm, sweetcorn, hemp, boilies,
pellets and meats also work well along with pellets and float,
pole or ledger tactics will all work. Tench and Carp run big here
so suitable equipment needs to be used and if you fish fine you
will lose excellent fish.
