LOUGHRIGG TARN

Tickets:
Available at Tarn Foot Farm. Directions: Take the A593
Ambleside to Coniston road and pass through Clappersgate. After
about 2 miles turn right and got to Tarn Foot Farm where the lake
is. The tarn is very deep and holds good specimen fish and is
never over fished. Species are Roach, Perch, Pike and Brown Trout.
The Roach and Brown Trout run large. The tarn is surrounded by
reed beds and cuts access down and very deep water is found close
in although the farm bank shelves more gently and tends to be a
hot spot. Float fishing with waggler or sliding floats (in the
deeper parts) works very well. Good baits are red maggot, worms,
bread, casters and sweet corn.
