KENTMERE TARN

Tickets:
Available from newsagents in Staveley. Directions:
To
reach the fishery go into Staveley village and follow the signs
for Kentmere and go up the valley road for about 3½ miles. You
will glimpse the fishery on the left hand side 5 minutes after
passing the factory sign. Go into the field and park in the car
park and follow the track on foot. The fishery consists of two
lakes. East bay is a former pit and is 4 acres with lots of bays
and several fishing platforms. There is a combination of shallows
and deep holes and it fishes very well. Fish rise freely during
hatches of buzzer, sedge and damsels plus lots of terrestrials get
blown on. There is also a large head of minnows. The East Lake is
now a stocked brown trout fishery and is well worth a visit now
that a two fish day ticket is only £15. The main lake is 20
acres and forms part of the River Kent so not only does it offer
Brown and Rainbow Trout but Salmon and Sea Trout in Autumn. Boats
are available and may be used by anglers who purchase a full day
permit. Lots of wildlife here with red and roe deer, adders,
badgers, kingfishers, buzzards and golden eagles.
