SIGHT BOB KILLER

Tying:

Hook Size 10 - 16 medium or heavy weight round bend, wide gape
Head Gold bead to match hook size
Thread Shocking pink fluorescent floss
Body Use above floss
Finish Cover with epoxy, fishing glue or even Hard as Nails but with the latter you may get funny looks at the ladies counter at the chemists!

This fly is very simple to tie. You just pop a suitable gold bead on and take to the eye and build a tapered body up from the bend. Different thicknesses of body can be tried. The fly can also be tied without the bead to enable it to flutter down to fishing depth.

Fishing Method:

The fly is best fished with a sight indicator of a size that will not be pulled under by the fly. Vary depth according to feeding depth of fish but we generally start at about 4' and if no takes come we try different depths to about 10'.

We prefer calm conditions but rarely get them and we generally fish static or let the breeze just move the fly. However many anglers have great success by always retrieving steadily using the figure-of-eight method.

Watch the indicator like a hawk as takes are often lightning fast, as are rejections when they feel the hard bead. The version without the gold head tends to lead to slow positive takes but bites are generally slower in coming. Experiment on the day.

Our favourite and the trout's colour is shocking pink, although hot orange does nearly as well. It's worth tying in olive and black as well, as again we catch on these colours. Forget what you might think about pink. Just try it! and you should be very pleasantly surprised.
