A couple of strands of flashabou or similar can be

This fly is absolutely deadly all
year round and can be fished with equal success on floating,
intermediate or sinking lines. We find that fish normally prefer a
slowish figure of eight retrieve with plenty of pauses . Sometimes a
jerky figure of eight works very well. Takes are generally very
confident draws on the line and this particular fly works very well
on large over wintered fish that have seen everything and have been
caught a few times. Watch out for takes on the drop and also you
pick up a lot of fish if you lift and hang the fly at the end of the
retrieve rather than just whipping the fly out and recasting.
